What’s an ‘Alternative Shoot?’

The idea of “Trash the dress” brings up a slew of new and interesting ideas for pushing the boundaries of wedding photography.

I consider an alternative shoot (post wedding) as a shoot that occurs in an area that is not typically a wedding location.
By taking beautiful people in beautiful attire and placing them in urban surroundings, it is the contrast itself that becomes beautiful.

This allows me, as a photographer, to exercise creativity and challenge the status quo. Some ideal locations would be:

A graffiti scrawled alleyway in the city

Against a brick wall

Crossing a busy city street

A ‘seedy’ bar with neon lights

On a public bus/subway

Urban landscapes

Of course, we can always share ideas and decide what your own threshold would be! Always remember these shots are post wedding, and your dress and clothing will be protected. These shoots are also offered free of charge!

Break the mold and post some ideas below.
